Kiwis around the country have done a fantastic job in sticking to the rules of Alert Level 4 and limiting the impacts of COVID-19. The hard work isn’t over yet, but with the introduction of new restrictions at Alert Level 3, the great news is that you can now get your fishing gear out and go for a fish in your local area! To say we are excited is an understatement!

We are celebrating by holding a nationwide, land-based fishing event! We love fishing and we want to encourage Kiwis to get out and enjoy fishing within the restrictions of Alert Level 3!

The Rules & How to participate

First and foremost – the rules of Alert Level 3 are paramount – operating outside of these will put everyone’s safety, and all the great work done during lockdown at risk. So, keep it local and maintain your social distancing and only fish with those from within your bubble.

You need to register – this is done below. Once registered you will receive a confirmation email giving you your unique Angler number, which you will need when you post an entry.

You enter by uploading a picture of your catch on this page (if not live already its coming any day now!) When you post a picture you will need to include your unique angler number in the picture so we can verify the time frame, and you will be asked to include a couple of details about the species, length etc.,

All fish caught and uploaded will go in the draw for a daily “Mystery Length” prize – each day we will randomly generate a length and match that to an entry from the day. EVERY DAY, one Angler will get $150 worth of fishing gear from BERKLEY & PENN!

At the end of Alert Level 3 – we will also be awarding the biggest Legend in both Fresh and Saltwater. This will go to the anglers that caught the largest single species in fresh and saltwater fish through the event! Your upload will serve as your entry – however to be able to qualify you need to be able to verify the length via a measure mat or measuring tool, and of course include your unique angler code on the image.

The prize for the anglers that take out the Biggest Legend categories, will be $2500 worth of fishing gear from Berkley & PENN for each, as well as a handy Fish Hunter from Lowrance!
